Let it snow, let it snow!

We have been hoping for a good snow all winter long and it looks like we are going to get it tonight. It started snowing around 1:00 and has not stopped all day. We are expected to get up to 7-10 inches. As you can see, we already have about 5! My school has already been canceled for tomorrow, so I can be working on my application for a teaching position in Ohio, which is great!

Jason just finished up his rotation on gastroenterology last week and will be started cardiology tomorrow (weather permitting I guess!). Next month he has radiology, and then he is off in May so he will be done! Not much longer until he is totally and completely a doctor! He graduates May 30th. We had some crazy stuff come up with the house on Friday. I guess we have officially been hit by the falling economy. We were planning on getting this Physicians Loan for our mortgage, which includes 100% financing, and no PMI. Well, you can only get the 100% financing if you are buying/building in an area that is not considered declining. Dayton was not a declining area when we were pre-approved back in December, but apparently as of January 30th, almost the entire state of Ohio is considered to be "declining". What area is not right now? Well, because of this, we have to put a great deal of money down on our house. We still get the benefit of no PMI, but have a hefty down payment. SOOOOO, that means no Hawaii vacation. We were pretty bummed, but now that we have had a few days we have decided that we will go someday. We are just grateful for the house.

So here's the update of the house! We went to Dayton and signed the purchase agreement about 2 weeks ago. We got to pick out the flooring, counter tops, cabinets, siding, brick, and shutters. The house will be painted all white inside when we get it, and I CAN'T WAIT to paint first thing! After renting for nearly 4 years, the white walls have to go! We go back to Dayton to have a pre-construction meeting March 20. Then we will walk the lot, pick the placement of the house, and meet with the construction team to ensure everything is ready. Next, they actually start building. I am beginning to wonder how the house is going to be done by June, but I am hopeful! Here are a few pictures of our lot, and a picture of a house we found exactly like the one we are building. Have a wonderful week!!

We loved the "sold" sign. It was so official! This is the spot where the house will be built.

This is the house we found that is exactly like the one we are building! Not very big, but just right for us!
