Dancing Away!

After dinner on Sunday night, Paisley and Kaitlyn heard some loud music (Teenage Dream, to be exact) and decided to bust out in a full blown dance party! This was only a small snip-it of what Lacey, Ben, Jason, and I had for entertainment! They were sooo cute and funny!

Paisley's First Haircut!

Maybe I should say "trim" :) it was barely that! She did an amazing job sitting still, and Michon did an amazing job cutting it! I had a sucker all ready to pull out, but we didn't even have to resort to that. She was a little wiggly, but nothing like I thought she would be. I sorta hated to get her hair trimmed, but it was looking kind of bad at the ends, and was starting to look pretty stringy. This little trim helped a ton with both issues. Here are some pictures from the big event! :)

Where Did the Month Go?

It's been a while since my last post, and with good reason, we have been SUPER BUSY! I have lots of pictures to upload, and plan to do several separate posts soon, but for now, here's a quick update...

In the past month, I have started back to school, teaching 3 full days instead of the 3 half days I have done since Paisley was born. So far, so good! I actually really enjoy it. I miss Paisley, but love my time teaching, and still get home to her by around 3:30 everyday, and have Thursday-Sunday completely off with her. I feel like I am getting the best of both worlds! I am still doing Kindergarten in the afternoon, and now Pre-School in the morning. Didn't know how I would do with 3 yr olds, but they are *great!* Such a sweet group, so that makes my job much easier. :) Especially 7 months pregnant! Speaking of pregnant, I am now almost 29 weeks along, with 10 weeks left to go. This pregnancy is starting to kick my tail a bit, as I don't get much down time chasing a near 2 year old, but other than that, all is good. My feet and ribs think I am in my 9th month :) Paisley is starting to really pay more attention to my belly (How could you not?) and it's really sweet. She has even felt sister kick twice now, and both times seemed very surprised by what she felt! I had my Glucose tolerance test this week, and had another ultrasound 2 weeks ago. Little miss looked great, weighing in at 2 lbs 1 oz, measuring in the 35th percentile. Which is great compared to paisley at this point, who was always below the 10th %. So the best news, NO NON STRESS TESTS FOR US!! I had them twice a week for 11 weeks with Paisley! And ultrasounds every month, then every 2 weeks towards the end. I don't even have to get another ultrasound until 34 weeks. Big change from being hooked to a monitor 3 hours a week. GREAT NEWS!

We still don't have a name set in stone for this baby girl. We had a boy name ready to go, but nothing really for a girl. I pretty much got out our list from when we were naming Paisley, and those are still the names we love. Hopefully soon we will get something nailed down. This planner wants to know her baby's name, and I want Paisley to know, too! At this point, we are planning a scheduled c-section on December 12th. Looks like another Christmas in Ohio for the Spangler's!

Jason is doing well these days, too. Busy, busy, as usual, but this month seems to be a little better stress wise, which is funny because he is doing Orthopedic Trauma. :) I guess it's less HOMEwork, so he can actually relax a little in the evenings. The call is crazy busy, but that's to be expected I guess with Trauma in a big city. (Indianapolis) We are so looking forward to spending some time with him this weekend, as he has part of the day Saturday off, and all day Sunday! Wahoooo!

Paisley has had a crazy busy month as well as her Momma and Daddy. She has gone through a lot of big changes with Daddy being gone, and me going back to school, and she to a babysitter 3 full days. She has had some major separation anxiety set in, mostly happening at nighttime, that we are BOTH dealing with one day at a time! She was going to a new sitter a couple of days a week, then we were so blessed to have Carrie (her sitter since 10 weeks old!) offer to keep her all 3 days. She LOVES Carrie like family, and Jason and I love her too! She is truly an enormous blessing to us here in Ohio! Now that P is going there all 3 days, she seems to be doing better, but still having a hard time at nighttime. She wants me to stay in the room until she falls asleep, (we have always put her down awake), and the main issue is, if she wakes up in the night, she wants me to come back in her room until she goes BACK to sleep. Last night it was twice. NOT. FUN. This preggo Momma needs her sleep more than ever right now! I try letting her cry,and she will be awake for more than 2 hrs calling for me, and attempting to climb out of her crib. Oh boy, hopefully this phase will pass quickly! Otherwise, she is doing very well and growing and learning every day! She surprises me with the things she says and knows! Such a sweet and smart girl!

A Day at the Park

It was a beautiful morning here in Ohio, so Paisley and I made the most of it by getting out and about. We got all decked out in our TN orange to support Pat Summit, then headed out. First we went to the library to return a few things, and of course get a new Veggie Tales video. (P's new favorite thing!) Then it was off to the park.

She rode the airplane...

Then the dinosaur!! It took about 5 minutes to get up the courage, but she did it! She's not crying in this picture, only cringing :) She enjoyed every minute!

Once we left the park we went to Sam's for a few items, and we also picked up an Icee! Mmmm!! Paisley's first, (of course we shared!) and she is sold on them! Sam's has the best Icee's anyway!

We had a fun day together, as usual!

Feeding the Ducks, Fighting the Geese!

Lacey and I recently decided to take the girls to a local pond and let them feed the ducks. They enjoyed every minute, and the ducks enjoyed my burned biscuits from the morning! At first we had no ducks near us... Then we had 2 little guys come over, and before long we looked out across the pond and there were ducks coming from every which way!

THEN, these guys came to crash our party. Mean ol' geese! They swam right over, walked up to us (about 6 feet away!) and hissed! Paisley screamed in fear, Lacey grabbed Kaitlyn and ran for it, but crazy me stayed and fought them off! Must be my Polk Co roots coming out, but that made me so mad! I swung my camera at them to keep them back, and finished feeding the ducks the bread. :) Lacey called out from the back ground "Have you ever seen video of geese attacking?" Hah, she was trying to protect me I guess but I am a little too stubborn!

We recently went to a Peach Festival, and unfortunately, we weren't very impressed with having many things to do. (The petting zoo was going to cost $8!) Luckily, they did have some blow up toys that we decided to let Paisley try out for the first time. Needless to say, she had a great time! She ran and bounced and played for quite a while! Later that day when we were home she would sign and say "more bounce!"

Paisley loves her baby dolls to no end. She plays with them a lot of the day, whether it's rocking them, feeding, them, giving them their "e-i", strolling them around, or whatever else. Here, she is at Kaitlyn's house, and she was having a ball with Kaitlyn's babies and accessories! She is going to be such a big helper when baby girl #2 comes along!

We had an awesome opportunity to go to a Dayton Dragons Baseball game and sit in a box through Jason's work. It was soooo nice! When we arrived, there were hamburgers, hotdogs, popcorn, snacks, drinks, pizza, fries, all kinds of food, and great company as well. We had a nice family night out, and I must say Paisley enjoyed every minute.

She LOVED the huge baseballs outside the park. Actually cried when we had to leave them!

At the Boonshoft Discovery Museum there is a section that Paisley would never step foot in, until recently! It is full of rubber shreds, and bones! Kids can dig and shovel, and brush to discover fossils, and Paisley was very excited to take part of the action this time. She had a great time discovering, indeed.

Paisley recently learned to play "Ring Around the Rosie" and she wants to play ALL THE TIME! She and I play, we play with stuffed animals, Jason plays with us, until we can't play anymore... It has been SOOOO HOT lately and I have thought many times how Paisley's hair must be bothering her on her neck, so last week, I finally tried the ponytail! It's not much of one, but adorable just the same! The only thing is, she looks like such a bog girl with her hair up. It's almost shocking! Daddy's not a big fan, and maybe that's why... :) Here's our girl and her PONYTAIL!

Half-Way to TWO!

Oh, how time has FLOWN this year! Today is our sweet Paisley's 18th "mirthday". Half-way to 2 years old! With her birthday falling right at Christmastime, and the poor child getting all her gifts within days of each other, I have many times thought about doing her a big "half-birthday" party, and a *small cake and ice cream only* type real birthday party, but this year it looks like it won't be happening again! Maybe sometime down the road we will start doing that for her.

Paisley is doing great, and is a very happy child. She is progressing well developmentally, and we even got her a potty this weekend to start the training process. I know she is still quite young at this point, but she has shown interest, and had many signs of readiness. Although, I think she lacks the ability to sit still long enough to pee in a potty! We'll get there, sooner than later I predict. :) By Christmas would be ideal!

Paisley is still a climbing monkey girl, and I have grown eyes in the back of my head trying to keep her from visiting the ER at some point in her near future. She has no fear of heights, in fact, she has a thrill of heights! The higher she can get, the better! I was like that as a child, so she gets it honest. She loves to visit local parks and playgrounds, with her favorite still being the "Yide!", although she has recently opened up to swinging again. For a while she wasn't a fan. Her favorite thing to do is probably visit the Cincinnati Zoo. Animals are her thing, so she enjoys everything she sees at the zoo, especially the petting zoo area. She also loves a local children's museum, where she can run, play, and explore things just her size. Other than those things, she also loves having play dates with her BFF Kaityln, visiting family (or when family come to visit us) and just plain being outside. Inside, she loves to draw, paint, build with blocks, and heaven knows, play with her babies! She usually has Bitty Baby, and at least one other, usually two others nearby. She is so sweet to them, singing them songs, feeding them, giving them her milk, etc. She even tries to change their diapers. :) She doesn't understand the whole "gentle" concept yet, which is pretty funny to us. One second she is rocking and singing to the baby, the next second she may throw it on it's head on the hardwood to get one of the others! Adorable!

She is surprising us all the time with things she says, (nothing's off limits at this point) and things that she knows. She now can identify a circle, triangle, oval, and sometimes a square. She knows the colors purple, yellow, and most of the time blue and pink. Recently she and I were watching a rabbit in the backyard, and I turned away as she continued to watch. A few seconds later she started saying "two!, two!". I looked outside, not knowing what she meant at first, and saw that another rabbit had come into the yard to join the first rabbit. She saw TWO rabbits! What?!?! She has the ability to communicate just about anything she wants to, which is great for her and I, as it lessens the getting upset when I know what she wants/needs. Her ability to count aloud starts with 5, 6,8,9,10! We somehow skipped the whole 1-5 part. :)

Size-wise, Paisley is still a bit on the shrimpy side, but is bigger than she's ever been. She weighs 21 lbs, and is 31 in long. Putting her in the 10th-20th% for weight and almost 50th% for height. Grow, Paisley grow!

She is such an amazing child, and I know I speak for Jason and myself when I say, we are blessed beyond words to be her parents. She is truly our little angel!

Ready for a Surprise??

We weren't!

Surprise really isn't the appropriate word... That's a major understatement! Paisley will be almost 2 when the new baby is born, so that will be a great age difference. OUR plan was for Paisley be be 4ish, but apparently God's plan was much different! I heard Oprah say this on a recent show and decided that it will be painted on a canvas and placed in the new baby's room...

"God can dream a bigger plan for you then you can dream for yourself."

This was indeed God's plan for our family. I won't go into details, but know that I have had 3 Dr.'s tell me they have never seen anyone become pregnant using the precaution we had chosen. That's right, we're making the history books with this one! On top of being told I was expecting when I had no idea it was possible! (The odds are 3 in 1000, by the way), I also had to start taking my blood thinner shots right away. THAT was something I was not quite ready for again! But, just like last time with Paisley, it has become a very easy part of my day. At this point I can say, regardless of the past few weeks, I am feeling really good! Morning sickness has passed for the most part, and my energy level has increased dramatically from what it was a few weeks ago! It is a new world being pregnant while chasing a toddler! Now I feel like my old self again, as long as I don't look anywhere near my mid-section. :)

As of today, I am 14 weeks along, due December 19th. Paisley is going to be a great big sister, and will love having a baby around. She is already fascinated by any baby she sees. I know the first year (especially) will be difficult, but thank goodness Jason will be around more, having completed his 2nd year. And truthfully, who wouldn't want another one of these...

Yes please, we will take it!

We recently found a great Children's Museum in Dayton, that I actually knew was there, but thought Paisley was still a bit too young. Further investigation told me that she was a great age to start taking! And that she is. In fact, I wish we would have discovered this place in the Winter months! So thankful to know now and have a wonderful place to go on rainy days, cold winter days, or just plain hot days! We even get a great discount since we have a Cincinnati Zoo pass. We love Boonshoft, and we are so thankful for great friends to find and enjoy places like this with!

So Paisley and I are addicted to the Cincinnati Zoo. We bought a pass this year and I think it is the best money spent! (Maybe I love it as much as she does) Nothing fascinates her more than animals these days, well, her whole life! :) And she gets it honest. My Mom use to say I reminded her of Fern from Charlotte's Web. We have such a great time at the zoo! We plan to go lots of times this summer, and through out the year! As you can see, I think the petting zoo was the highlight our last visit.

Mother's Day

Paisley and I had a wonderful Mother's Day together this year. Fortunately, Jason was able to go to church with us, but unfortunately, he was called in as we were trying to find a place to eat lunch. :/ Oh well, I am really glad he was able to go to church! That explains the one bad picture that P and I got together! It was taken sitting on the dining room table :)

That night for dinner, we (Jason, too!) took a picnic to a local park and had a quiet dinner and afterwards Paisley played and played at the playground, especially loving the "YYYIDE!" as usual. So thankful to be here Momma this Mother's Day!

Paisley had a fun time painting birdhouses with Kaitlyn a few weeks ago. She's going to be quite the artist as she was very determined to dip the brush in every color, and painted each side pretty well for a 16m old! Another sign she's going to be artsy is the fact that she cries to color! She called it "purple" for the longest time and I didn't know what she wanted, but we finally figured out that she was pointing to paper and wanted to color. She now goes to where her crayons and paper are, and says "color!" or sometimes even "purple, yellow!"

This year, I have never been so happy for Spring to come. I don't know if it was our rather rough Winter, or the feeling that Winter would never end, or the fact that I need to get this toddler of mine out and let her play in the sunshine! Finally, Spring has indeed come! Today, April 11th, it hit 80 degrees here in Dayton, Ohio! I know it will be cool again before Spring comes to stay, but right now I am just basking in the moment, and enjoying my little bit of sunburn on my arms and chest. :)

Last year about this time I did a post titled "Happies". I thought it was such a great idea when I saw it on a friend's blog. A fun way to count your blessings. :) So today, in my chipper-spring time mood, I walked around the house and captured some of my Springtime Happies. Sometimes it's the simple things that make me smile...

I am LOVING the signs of Easter throughout my house...

Paisley's Favorite Easter Decoration. She swings the bunnies, and loves the squirrel!

And a few non-Springtime Happies. This tray was a birthday gift from my sister in law and I LOVE it. It's the perfect touch to a corner in my kitchen. Matches perfectly, and add a daisy to anything and it makes it Spring-y!

Random? ABSOLUTELY, but boy oh boy does this make me happy! Tyke has always had major barking issues that started really driving me nuts once Paisley was born. I went back and forth about a shock collar, and ultimately couldn't do it. This precious jewel here, transmits a high pitch noise (only he can hear) when he barks, that basically distracts him and he stops barking! PERFECT for nap time especially! I have even been known to lay it at my neighbor's fence line during Paisley's nap time to "distract" the constantly yapping pup over there. Works like a charm.

And of course, my all time favorite "Happy". The angel that makes me the happiest in the world... I mean, really, have you ever seen anything so sweet?!?!

Paisley and cousin Carson had a fun playing with the car when we were in TN a couple of weeks ago. Carson was so great to push her around in the car, and was so patient while she got in, and out, in and out. :) Paisley loves her cousins, and playing at Gigi and Poppa Ron's!

A Trip to the Zoo

While in TN last week, Jason, Paisley, and I took a quick trip to the Chattanooga Zoo. We had a great time! Paisley loves animals, much like her Momma, and enjoyed every one we saw. She would make the different animals sounds and studied each animal. Once she had looked long enough, she would say "All done! Bye-bye!"

We bought a Cincinnati Zoo pass for the next year and we look forward to many more Zoo trips with our Little Miss!

Jason and I went to see the Lady Vols play last Monday night in the "Elite Eight". It was so nice to get out and have some sort of a date, and so thankful for the tickets that were given to us from one of Jason's attendings, and for Carrie coming to keep Paisley while we went! We had a good time, despite the Lady Vols playing efforts... :)

I have mentioned it before, but it's worth saying again, Paisley is a CLIMBER. She has recently learned to climb on the couch by herself. And the bed. And the high chair. And so on! It really wouldn't be an issue, but the couch in not quite high enough, she wants to get on the top part of the couch, so she stands up and tries to continue to climb. So, as you can imagine, you can't take your eyes off of her these days! She also stands up in her chair and on the ARM of her chair, and I just had to move her crib away from the rocking chair in her room because she was putting her foot through the slats, and standing on the arm of the rocking chair! What am I going to do with this child when she starts climbing out of her crib?!?!

I read an article one time about containing a "climbing toddler" and it said that you may at times feel as if you are living with the likes of a mountain goat... Indeed, Paisley. Indeed.

Paisley now knows ALL her animal sounds! Here are a few I caught with my phone one morning at breakfast. She knows cow, duck, pig, horse, rooster, cat, bird, dog, frog, lion, elephant, and even monkey! She even says "oooo,oooo" for owl. Cracks me up with these sounds! Maybe I can get a few more soon and post them too. What a mess she is!

Last week was Dr. Seuss' birthday so I brought a project home from school to do with Paisley. I cut out all the pieces, and uses a purple glue stick to make dots and told her where to put the shapes to make the face, whiskers, and bow tie. It turned out pretty cute!

Last weekend, it was much warmer than usual, so we decided to take Paisley out in the backyard and get some fresh air. (Please pay no attention to the fact she looks like an orphan in these pictures... I promise we did not go into public like this!)

We took out her ball, and some bubbles, and we had a great time. Afterwards, we loaded her in the wagon, along with Tyke, and took a short walk. Tyke wasn't feeling up for walking, (that's another blog!) so he rode along with P. She LOVES her wagon!

Below is a video of Paisley lounging around, clearly, right before nap time. :) This video also shows her using her much loved "lip stuff". She already has a chap stick obsession just like her Momma. If she sees me putting chap stick or lipstick on, she comes over motioning her lips for me to put some on her. Just had to share these pictures of our windows, COATED with ice, during last week's ice storm. It was unlike any ice storm I have ever seen. We could not see out the windows because the ice was so thick, and if you opened the door to look out, small trees were bent completely over, top branches touching the ground, and a complete glaze of ice on top of the snow that was already there. Quite dangerous, indeed. We stayed inside for 2 days, and prayed we wouldn't loose power. Praise the Lord, we didn't. What a Winter we have had here in Ohio this year!

A Morning Playdate

On Friday, Paisley's friend Kaitlyn came to play while her Momma went to an appointment. Paisley and Kaitlyn are what Lacey and I call "forced best friends". They have been getting together since they were born, really I think Lacey brought Kaitlyn over when Paisley was 1 week old. Our play dates, then, consisted of changing diapers, breastfeeding, and holding the girls while they slept. Now, the chase is on! They are only 12 days apart, so they are just perfect playmates. We love our play dates with them!

The Coaster...

I recently got out an old plastic coaster and put it on the coffee table where Paisley usually sits her drink. I showed her how to use it (just for kicks, really) and she has become an avid coaster user! She gets that from her Daddy :) She almost always uses it on the table, and has started carrying it around with her when she has a drink. Even putting it down on the floor, to sit her sippy cup on. Oh boy, we may have another clean freak on our hands... Here are a few pictures.

Last week Paisley and I were home (and bored, since we had not been out much, it has just been TOO COLD to go out for fun!) so I decided to introduce her to crayons, and drawing. She really is too small still, but exposure is a good thing. SOOO, I got out the crayons, and paper, and she was very interested. I laid out the crayons and she picked every color she used, and I tried to show her how to use them, but she had her own way. She would turn the crayon upside down, hold it by the tip, then dot the paper. She really did well for a first time. Here are the pictures from our first art session!

Okay, so there are only a few marks, but I proudly put it on the refrigerator anyway, and it's totally going in her baby book when it comes down. It is a great memory!

A few days ago, Paisley saw Barney on TV for the first time, and she loved it. I have never showed it to her, and the TV happened to still be on PBS from recording Sesame St. when we turned it on, and she was glued to it. I caught a little video with my phone. In Paisley's 1 year update I forgot to mention that her signing skills are getting pretty good! She regularly signs "eat", "more", "all done" and "milk". I am trying to teach her "thank you" and "bath" now. I will keep you posted on how that's going!

Paisley is usually in bed between 8:00 and 8:30, and the night of her birthday and party, she didn't get in bed until after 10:00! She was perfectly happy, but wide awake on a sugar rush! We stayed around Brittany and Wade's until finally she started to wind down. We changed her into her pj's, gave her her milk, and she crashed in the car before we were out of the drive way. Didn't wake up being brought in, moved her straight to the crib. That has only happened a few times! She was exhausted!

Paisley had a great time at her first birthday party! First we ate dinner, then we opened presents! She LOVED everything she got so much that she wanted to explore/play with it right then. I can't say I blame her...

Next, Paisley enjoyed her very first piece of cake! First thing she wanted to do was dump it off the plate, but I didn't let her... But when she tried again later, we did! She had fun playing in her cake and I'm sure she thought it was really yummy, too

Unfortunately, this is quite blurry, but still kinda sweet. What a great day our Paisley girl had! So happy that friends and family were able to come and celebrate with us!

One night leading up to Christmas Jason and I were busy running around the house, and I didn't take the time that night to make supper, so we had Campbell's soup for dinner. (Hello sodium) Oh well, it happens. As it turns out, Paisley LOVED the soup. I had drained a lot of the liquid off they veggies and chicken so that she could feed herself while we were running around the kitchen, and when I looked over at her once, this is what we saw...

And, that's not all, in fact there is MUCH more to come. A bit later, after I had given her more, this is what happened...

We laughed so hard, well at least I did. Jason and his overwhelming urge to keep things (and children) neat and clean, didn't think it was as funny as I did. (I teach young children, a mess is nothing to me). If you listen closely you will hear him say "I'm not cleaning it up. I'm not even helping!" Although, of course he did . :)

Paisley's Winter ONEderland

I decided to do an entire blog just on the set up of the party and decorations. I will do another post on the birthday girl next. I am waiting to get a few more pictures from other people before I post that one. (You know my camera STINKS when it comes to taking pictures of her).

I had so much fun planning and decorating for her party. I wanted to do a Winter theme, and this seemed like a great play on words, and easy to find the stuff with the colors chosen. I ordered her invitation and party circles from ETSY, and I was very pleased with them. I actually just got the rights to print them, so I was sent a pdf file ad printed what I wanted. I "blinged" up the invites with a little jewel, and they worked well. I found lots of snowflakes here and there, and found the details to be the big difference (matching ribbon added, etc). I found the idea for her banner on ETSY as well, and since I had taken monthly pictures, it was a great way to use them. The banner was by far the most time consuming thing to make (even more than the snowman pops we had for favors) but it was very worth it.

We had several types of soups/chili and the fixin's for the main dish, and lots of other finger foods to go with it. We also had hot cider to go with the theme, and cold drinks as well. We had lots of sweets, as you can see from the cake table.

Thanks so much to Wade and Brittany to opening their house so we could have Paisley's party there!

1 Year Old!!

Boy time has flown by this year and our precious Paisley is 1 year old! It seems like no time ago we were loading her up in the carrier for the first time, bringing our bundle of joy home. With that same bundle of joy came a new part of life that started with lots and I mean LOTS of crying and sleepless nights, but led to smiles, giggles, a funky crawl, first steps, first words, and an overall love I didn't know existed. I say to Paisley often "Do you know how much I love you?" while knowing she doesn't because I had no idea how much my Mom loves me and my siblings until I had her. It's a love that you can't explain, that seems to grow deeper everyday. We are so blessed to have this precious gift, and thank God for her every day. What an amazing year it has been!

So here is what Little Miss is up to these days...

Is up to about 20-25 words now! Also says "moooo" for a cow, has meowed like a cat once, and when asked what Santa says, she answers "Ho, Ho!", and says "uh-oh" when something is dropped.
Still sitting at only 4 teeth. I have been saying over a month I think she is teething though. Just waiting for that next tooth to make it's appearance.
Started drinking whole milk this week.
LOVES books, especially board books, and books with animals in them. She can point out a duck, cow, pig, cat, dog, and sometimes horse. She says duck, dog, and mooos for the cow. :)
Enjoys climbing on everything she can! She loves the slide my parents got her for Christmas since she can climb up the back, and loves climbing the stairs on our way up for nap time. (My attempt to be sure she is wore out!) She also loves to climb in and out of her chair that Jason's parents bought her for Christmas.
Wears mostly 12 month clothes, but a lot are still a bit big. She also has some 9m outfits we are still wearing that fit well, and some that are too big!
Size 1 shoe. She can do a size 2 at Target. :)
Size 2 diapers.
Weighs 18 lbs (5th percentile)
28 inches long (25th percentile)

We went to the Dr on Friday for her 1 yr check-up, and I snapped a couple of pictures while we waited. Poor baby, she had no idea what was coming for her (4 shots and a toe prick) She did okay though. I do think 4 shots is way too many to get at once. Just plain TRAUMATIZING. If there are that many at once again I may opt to split them up. Holding her down to get that many pokes was horrible for all parties involved! (Pay no attention to the blue trimmed socks- she had on pink leggings but they had to go for the shots).

Christmas Morning

Wow, what a whirlwind these past 2 weeks have been for us. We have had Christmas in Ohio, traveled to TN to have Christmas with family and spend some time at home, had Paisley's first birthday and party, went to Nashville to the Opryland Hotel for the TN game and New Years, then traveled back to OH. We had an amazing time at home with family and friends and we were so glad Jason was able to have some much needed time off.

Christmas weekend, we knew we couldn't go home for the holiday because Jason was on call. We invited family to come and join us and my parents and sister decided to come on up. SO glad they did! Jason's call is "home" call, meaning he is home until there is a reason to go in, so we hoped he would be home most of the weekend, considering the holiday. We were right, for the most part, however, Christmas morning he went in at 4:30am to round, and didn't get back until 11:30am! He had totally planned on being home by 7:30 or 8:00, but didn't quite make it. It worked out okay, though, because (1) my family was here, and (2) Paisley had no idea it was Christmas, so we just kept her out of the living room until Jason got home, then we had our Christmas morning fun. She loved all her gifts from Santa, and Grammy & Papaw. A few days later, we had Christmas with Gigi, Papa Ron, Momma Jean & PePaw, Grandma Spangler, Brittany, Wade, the boys, and Patrick & Jan. She loved her gifts from them, too! It was SO NICE to spend time with family and not feel rushed to go to the next house before we have to hurry home to OH. Here are a few pictures from Christmas morning.

So disappointed in a lot of the pictures I took over the break, because my camera just doesn;t take great action shots. And let's face it, if it's a picture of Paisley, it's an action shot. Not to mention, I can never get a good picture of her looking at the camera because it pre-flashes, then does the major flash, so she is blinking in all the pictures. I am going to look at camera's Friday with hoped of getting a new one for my birthday. :)

Pretty sure of what would happen, we went on to take Paisley to visit Santa for the first time. She HAD to see him and have her picture made with him on her first Christmas, right?!? Paisley is extremely friendly, and waves, smiles, talks to, even reaches for strangers at times, however, "Winnie the Pooh" answered a neighbor's door on Halloween, and she about had a heart attack. SOOO, I didn't know how she would feel about Santa. She didn't mind him at all until we got close to him, and then we knew there was no way she was sitting on his lap! I tried anyway (for some reason), and she s.c.r.e.a.m.e.d. Reaching, climbing, nearly clawing, etc., but we had waited in line for a good 45 minutes with a toddler, so we wanted a picture. Jason and I jumped in and this is the *best* one we got. We did get a funny memory!

Shop (and eat) 'til You Drop!

This weekend we had the opportunity to spend extra time with Jason, so we soaked him up while finishing Christmas shopping. We also grabbed a late lunch on Saturday at Olive Garden, and after church on Sunday we went to Mimi's for brunch. I couldn't help but snap pictures because usually when we are out to eat, it's Paisley and I with friends, and I am too busy keeping her content to take pictures! But this time, I could take them! We successfully finished our shopping except for 1 gift, and 3 small ones, so we did pretty well. We had a great weekend together!

Monkeying Around

This girl is a "climber", there is no doubt. She climbs on boxes, toys, chairs, loves stairs...she climbs on anything she can get footing on. Now, I didn't *see* her get into this situation, but I am assuming she climbed over the railing...

(Yes, we still use the Bumbo seat because she is so little that I feel like it gives her a bit of a boost, and must be a lot more comfortable.) Here she is strolling around. Can't seem to get a good picture of her looking at the camera, because ours pre-flashes, which makes her blink for the real flash. Anyone know if you can turn that option off?

And here she was kissing her reflection in the stove. She is giving kisses a lot more often now! Mostly, when you least expect it, full on, open mouth, and goes for your mouth. She will not settle for the cheek. :)

A Night Out

On Saturday night, my parents came into town to keep Little Miss while Jason and I went to a Christmas Dinner. What you need to know is that Jason and I have only been out by ourselves 3 times since Paisley has been born! Crazy, I know, but with his schedule, and finding a babysitter, and overall making it work, it hasn't happened much. So for us, this was a real treat!

The dinner was at the Dayton Art Institute, including horderves hand drinks, a very nice Dinner, "entertainment" afterwards, and tickets to walk through the art gallery. It was very fancy! We had a good food, and a great time with friends. Thanks Grammy and Papaw for keeping Paisley (and Tyke)!

Look Who's Talking...

Paisley has recently taken off with her talking, surprising us all the time at what she can say! A few nights ago, I told Paisley to "tell Daddy night night" and to our shock, she looked at Jason and said "night night Dada". WHAT? It seems like no time ago she wasn't saying anything, now she says about 15 words! Another big surprise was "banana". I know, you probably think I'm crazy, but my Mom and Jason have both witnessed this with me! She didn't say it on the video above, but maybe I can catch it another time. A few of her words are hi, bye bye, night night, Momma, Dada, Popa, Papaw, Tyke (Ty), light, ball, puff, bite, duck, bath, and of course banana! We are loving this stage in Paisley's development as she continues to amaze us every day. She is also starting to follow one step directions, which is GREAT for helping Momma out. Paisley's Christmas Things

Our house is all decorated for Christmas, complete with Paisley's own little Christmas decor. :) In her room, she has her very own small Noah's Ark Christmas tree (Thank you Grandpa Bill & Brenda!), and in the living room on the coffee table she has a "Little People" Nativity. While hoping she would enjoy these things as I put them out, I never dreamed she would love them as much as she does! I thought maybe next year when she was older, but she is thrilled to have them THIS year!

First, I put out the Nativity. I brought her downstairs after a nap, and lead her over to the table. She saw the nativity, stopped about a foot away, stared, and did her little laugh which is actually "ugh, ugh, ugh!" She would look at me, look at Jason, and point, not sure if she could touch it or not. She soon learned she could in fact touch it, and play with it all she wants. So everyday, she plays and plays with her nativity. (Well carries it around the house anyway, or in her mouth. She usually has Mary by the head in her mouth). She recently started leaning over to kiss the different characters! It is the cutest thing. Yesterday morning when we got up, the first thing she did was walk over and kiss the cow, and then the camel from the nativity. I am so happy she loves it that much!

She also loves her tree. Every time we are in her room, she points and laughs to the tree. We walk over and look at the animals, and she points out the balls of course, saying her sweet little southern draw "baaawwwww" at every shiny ball on the tree. I took it out of her room the first day when I put her down for a nap because she wouldn't stop talking and pointing enough to settle down for a nap! She LOVES this tree!

We can't wait to see her face and hear her "ugh ugh ugh" laugh on Christmas morning. We have already received our greatest gift ever this year, it's Little Miss Paisley Lane!

Halloween Pictures

Paisley had a great first Halloween! She was a precious pink Daisy flower. (my most favorite flower!) She did a great job wearing her hood for the night. She loved socializing with the neighbors and walking around outside. She did get very spooked by the giant Winnie the Pooh that brought her a sucker (she screamed in terror) but other than that, she did very well. By the end of the night, she was exhausted, and conked out in her car seat, costume and all. Already looking forward to next year!

9/10 Months Update

Our little Paisley girl is growing and growing. She is such an amazing blessing to us and we love her more every day. (if that's possible!) She amazes us with learning new skills and her sweet personality. Can't believe she is already 10 months old. I am starting to plan her first birthday party. Looking forward to it! Here's what she has been up to lately.

Paisley has said her first word, and a few more. She now says "ball" every time she sees one, even recognizes them in books. We were out shopping this week and we saw Christmas ornaments and she kept saying "ball" and pointing. Last Sunday I wore a polka dotted jacket to church, and she would point to the dots and say "ball". We thought that was pretty clever! She also says, hi, bye-bye, hello (sorta), bath, Dada, Momma, and just started saying Pa-pa working towards Papaw and Papa Ron. :)
She took her first long stride walking at 9 months, 1 week. Now, she walks everywhere! She can walk room to room, maneuver around things, turn and go a different direction, etc. She's getting pretty good! I have to say it has been easier going out in town with her. When she needs a break from the stroller, I can put her down and let her a walk a little bit.
Paisley has discovered the world of cabinets and drawers, and all the fun things inside them. Hoping to get locks on this weekend...
She loves to wave at people everywhere we go. She is quite friendly!
Happy to say that her dairy allergy is completely gone! Paisley and I both enjoy our cheese, milk, yogurts, etc, now! She just had macaroni and cheese last week for the first time and loved it.
Paisley mostly eats what Jason and I are eating. I think she has some texture issues though, as she will eat vegetables smashed up (like baby food) all day, but if I give her cooked carrots, green beans, peas, she gags. Literally GAGS. I don't get it. Sometimes I hide them in mashed potatoes, soup, etc, and she's ok, but she refuses to pick them up and feed herself like she does everything else. She L.O.V.E.S. meat. She will eat all the chicken, turkey, beef, off her plate before touching anything else. She also likes bread/pasta, and of course fruit. Her favorite thing may be Baby Mum Mum rice crackers. She will go in the kitchen, open the cabinet, and get them out, and bring me both handfuls of packs. SHe also nurses 3 times a day.
Still a little thing, weighing in at 15.5 lbs, and 27 1/2 inches long. That puts her below the 5th % for weight, and at 10th-20th % for height. Her doctor says she is growing at her own little pace and he's not worried at all. She's just going to be petite.
Speaking of petite, she still wears size 1-2 diapers, although the next box will be size 2. She wears size 6-9 clothes, mostly, some 6 month, and very few 9 month. I am hoping she can wear all those adorable 12m Christmas outfits we have!
Wear a size 2 shoe, and that's a problem for a child who walks. :) I have a hard time finding her size with no slip bottoms! The last pair I bought were size 3-6 months. I have found that Pedipeds work best (size 0-6 months!). I honestly don't know how she balances on that tiny foot of hers.
Paisley has 4 teeth, 2 top, and 2 bottom.

Busy busy girls, that's what we have been lately. Paisley is on the go, all the time, so pardon the pictures of her profile, instead of her smiling face, what can I say, she's hard to catch. :) Here are a few pictures from last weekend's festivities. My best friend came to visit with her two kiddos and we kept pretty busy trying to keep the 3 kids busy! Not quite what "girl time" use to be, but we enjoyed it just the same. Now we have 3 sweet personalities to brighten our time together. Regretfully, we didn't get any pictures of them together, but we got some cute ones of them separately. I have been working with Paisley since she was 4-5 months old on doing some Sign Language. Nothing much, I just want her to be able to tell me when she is hungry, thirsty, full, etc. I am hoping if we can teach her to communicate (before she can talk) it will cut down on the inevitable crying/fits, etc that comes with being a toddler. Especially if she can sign us her basic needs. She surprised me a few nights ago when I asked if she were "all done?" and she signed "all done" back to me! It was her own, modified way, but clearly, "all done". I was so proud of her! Here she is a few nights later, signing for us. Have a great Friday!

I have been following Paisley around for the past several days trying to catch her walking, but as soon as she sees the camera, she drops down and crawls over to check it out. She is still mostly crawling, but walks short distances, and occasionally longer strides from time to time. Here she is waving away, and at the end, you catch a little "Bye!"

Perfect Fall Day

Just about to go to bed and I can't help but look back on this day and be so thankful for what it was. Woke up to an angel talking in the room a few doors down, and it was a beautiful cool Fall morning. A bit later, that same angel has had breakfast, played a bit, and is down for a nap, and Jason calls and says he's on his way home. (WHAT!?!? You mean MY husband is going to actually be in this house when it's daylight? Holy cow!) So Jason comes in and has me breakfast in his hand. A Hardees biscuit. And may I just remind you that I haven't been eating dairy in almost 8 1/2 months? I just started eating a few things here and there in September, but still have been to afraid to go all out that it will make Paisley sick. So a Hardees sausage biscuit was a big splurge for me (it's time to try something big, -says the Pediatrician) and boy was it delish. I mean I think I savored every last bite.

Later on, Paisley wakes up and Jason gets her out of her crib, and she is thrilled. I sit back and watch my baby girl play delightfully with her Daddy. For the 2nd time this week. She saw him Sunday, and not again until Thursday night for 15 minutes, and now today. She (and he) are both soaking this up. Next, Jason has to leave for a while, but my Grandparents who live in Northern Ohio stop by. We had the best visit, and I am just so happy they came over. By the time they have to leave Jason is already back. Paisley naps a while, and so do I actually, while Jason watches the Tennessee game. When she wakes up, we play a while, and she WALKS! SHe is playing by herself, and out of no where, she starts walking across the living room! Jason and I both about jump out of our seats and scream, in fact as soon as she gets to the pack and play, we do jump and scream! We are so proud of her! I predicted last week that she would be walking by Monday, and I was right! It was so amazing to see her walking, and I am SOOOO thankful Jason was here to witness it too. What an incredible moment. She was so proud of herself. Hope to catch it on video soon so you can see it too. :) Jason then leaves, and Pais and I have dinner, and start getting ready for bed. We are going up the stairs when we hear the garage door open and I am so surprised that Jason is home again! Call weekends are never like this! He is here for her bedtime, and then we even get a little time to talk once she's in bed, and he even gets a nap before being called back in. So thankful for such a great day! We needed it to be honest. Things have been quiet crazy lately with Jason's work, so I am so happy he was able to be here today, even though he is on call all weekend. Now, if he can get some sleep tonight, that will put the cherry on top.

Paisley and I met Lacey and Kaitlyn at the park on Friday and had a great time together! We had a picnic, and let the girls swing a while. They loved swinging together! Here are a few sweet pictures from our day.

Paisley has been a busy little girl lately, which in turn keeps her Momma very busy! (Which I love!) I feel she is on the verge of walking. She has taken a step, but fell, so now I think she might be a bit afraid to try again. She stands alone for longer periods of time, and cruises all around furniture with no problems. I have predicted that she will walk at 10 months... We'll see! She will be 9 months old next week, so time is on her side. :) Happy Friday!

These are actually Paisley's 6 month pictures, but I am just getting around to adding them for all to see. We have an appointment coming up soon for her 9 months! Time has absolutely flown by.
